This time I am running the BUPA 10K in Manchester on 16th May, and then we (George's brother Bob, George's Dad John, and me) are running the British 10K in on July 11th to raise money for a cause we have held close to our hearts ever since our lives changed forever on 10th October 2008. This was the day that our eldest son George was killed crossing a busy road at a junction without a pedestrian crossing, and shortly afterwards we started a campaign to try and ensure that this kind of tragedy does not wreck another family's lives. BRAKE are aiming to lower speed limits on our dual carriageways, to install speed cameras at all major A road junctions, and and are fully supportive in our campaign to install controlled pedestrian crossings at the A junction where George lost his short but thankfully action packed life...............
I hope that you are able to support us. This is a particularly raw time of the year for us - George's 19th birthday on 24th May, followed by 3rd week of June - George attended his first and last Festival in June 2008 and loved every minute of it. He had just bought his ticket for 2009 3 days before he was killed - we managed to go last year and will be going this year in his memory.............He will be with us in spirit that's for sure!
