Fundraising for Mind
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I know January is a hard month for a lot of people, financially and emotionally but for some it's emotionally unbearable, to the point they may feel they can't carry on.
Growing up, I witnessed immediate members of my family try to take their own lives. On one occasion I had to rush to A&E with a loved one who cut their wrists and arteries. Another time I gave CPR until a paramedic came to a loved one, who had taken an overdose. I received several calls in the night from A&E over the years for attempted suicides and spent a huge amount of my life trying to cope with the worry and fear that those closest to me would eventually take their own lives. Tragically, my family did lose loved ones through mental health issues.
In 2017, I want to get fit both physically and emotionally, for me and my family. I don't ever want to be a victim of mental health problems, having had a taste of it through PTSD. I don't want anyone I know, care about or love dearly to ever feel they have no where to turn. This is the reason this charity is important to me.
I haven't considered myself a runner in four years so this is a real challenge for me. I also haven't ever run for 31 days straight before! But I plan to build up starting with a few days at 3km, then 4km, then 5km and so on. Perhaps I'll be running 10km by the end of the month?! Please follow my progress to find out.
