Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Once again I am taking to the streets of Exeter to try out the new route for the first time. If you know the city well you will know it has to be a hilly course, which is a real challenge as well as the 13.1 miles which starts and ends in the High Street.
After doing three half marathons in Exeter I went for the BIG one and ran the London marathon in 2009 and then again Edinburgh in 2010. Last year I travelled to Newcastle and with Olympic fever still raging I ran the iconic Great North Run - where Mo Farah and other Olympians greeted us on the start line.
I was not sure what my next goal would be until our Secondary schools' coordinator, Ed, suggested we bought some charity places for this year's run and make it a major fundraising event to give us much needed money. I am delighted that I am not alone in running for ICE this year; two friends from my gym - Hilary and David are joining me in training and getting the tee shirt. I thank them both for being my running buddies and having them alongside and thanks also to our inspirational coach, Richard Dart from Studio One to One.
For many years I have supported Exeter ICE ( Initiative in Christian Education) which for over 25 years has been involved in sending workers into schools in the city to help with assemblies, lunchtime and after- school clubs and RE lessons, providing a "reliable friend and positive role model in school and community." I am currently the chairman and with my fellow directors we aim to raise enough money each year to employ dedicated staff to do this vital work.We have contact with up to 2,000 children each week which is an awesome privilege!
Like many small charities we rely on the donations from great supporters and some local churches, but if you feel you can help this work by sponsoring me that would be fantastic. Thank you for taking time to read this . God Bless, Sue (Suzie) x
