This justgiving page is to raise money for the Vic Dashwood Memorial Fund.  The fund was set up by Vic's wife, Susan, following his death.  Whilst he was alive Vic wanted to do something to thanks those who had helped him during his battle with lung cancer.  He was diagnosed as terminal just 5 months after diagnosis.  Upon hid terminal diagnosis he asked to just go home to die.  Unfortunately, the area where Vic lived was rural and was not suported by any sort of Community Hospice team.  Addenbrookes hospital were not keen to send him home but finally gave in with Vic's determination to go home.  His mother-in-law and the district nurses made it possible.  Following Vic's death she decided to approach St. Nicholas Hospice to see if there was anything she could do in Vic's memory.  It was decided the most fitting tribute would be to support a nurse on the Community team to help people in the last weeks and days of their lives who wish to die at home.

Susan has raised £5,000 so far but still needs £15,000 to meet the £20,000 pledge she has made to sponsor a nurse on the Community team for a year.

If you are able to leave a donation it would be so very much appreciated.  The hospice survive on a small amount from the government the rest is all by donation.  It costs £10,000 a day to run the hospice.  Every single penny helps.
