We aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help, caring for them until their owners or loving new homes can be found, no matter how long it takes. We are champions for, and supporters of, vulnerable dogs and cats, determined to create lasting changes for animals in our society.

Story

Bluey, was a loving and incredibly handsome husky puppy there were endless possibilities for this young chap.  He would make the perfect pet.  Not too big, not too small, a little boy with a huge heart and a little fun-loving character.  Bluey was bought by a lady who thought this loving dog would help her disabled son enjoy life more.  The disabled boy did not realise how much it hurt the little dog when he leant down to hit Bluey.  But everytime he hit Bluey, the little husky lost a bit more of himself.  He became very scared and had nowhere safe to go.  Eventually, the boy's mother decided to pass Bluey on to someone else.  For the little, scared husky dog, this should have been the ideal solution.  However, the new owner did not really want a dog so left him in the garden.  He did not feed him or take him out for walks.    Now Bluey was not only an incredibly scared dog but he was also a very hungry dog that lacked the exercise and companionship he so desperately needed.  Fortunately, Bluey managed to escape from that garden and found his way to Battersea Dogs &Cats Home.

Bluey is our dog now.  He has changed so much in the last year.  A truly fantastic dog.  One of a kind. Stunning in every way.  He is still very nervous of new people but as each day goes by he trusts a little bit more and his smile grows a little bit bigger!

Bluey is just one of the 9,014 dogs that Battersea cared for last year and don't forget the cats!!!  Last year Battersea cared for 2,878 cats.  Please don't read this and consider donating later.  Your  help can make a big difference to The Battersea Dogs & Cats Home so dig deep and donate now.
