Marathons Are SO Two Years Ago...

Yes, it really has been two years since my last marathon (Edinburgh has a lot to answer for), so I thought it was time for something a bit different.

My lovely Dad had a lung condition called COPD and he also had pulmonary fibrosis. In October 2010 he had a heart attack and a stroke and although he fought bravely to get better, his lungs just weren't strong enough and he died in January 2011. Dad was given lots of support by the BLF and I am now fundraising for them in his memory.

In support of the BLF I am testing my lungs to their limit by climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the World - Kilimanjaro.

There are numerous dangers to be encountered while climbing a mountain that is almost 6,000 metres high; altitude sickness, severe fatigue, heat stroke and also freezing temperatures at the summit. But, given that I haven't been camping since Charles & Diana got married, what I am most worried about is spending 8 nights in a tent. Still, if Chris Moyles and Cheryl Cole can do it...(famous last words).

This is likely to be my last "big" fundraiser for some time (don't worry, I'll still do cake sales!). While I know times are tight and money a scarce commodity, I hope you will take this opportunity to sponsor me for doing something bonkers one last time.
