‘The Seniors Team – takes the challenge – Cycle a Difference Asian Business Ride

 ‘The Seniors’ are cycling 440 k in 3 days to help the next newborn survive.

Our team – ‘The Seniors’ is taking part in the Newborns Vietnam Cycle a Difference – Asian Business Challenge Ride in March 2014 to give every baby the chance of life. As a Newborns Vietnam trustee I am totally committed to working to reduce newborn deaths around the world. I am a recreational cyclist and I have accepted a challenge from a sponsor to complete one day of the Asian Business Challenge Ride – so a minimum of 136 k. 

I know we can all do extraordinary things and everyday I see doctors and nurses working in a resource poor environments overcome incredible challenges but 136 k?  I am training very hard on a local bike with no gears and this morning I made 53k.  Yesterday I cycled 45 k in the wind and the rain, the night before I read Mike Hall’s article about training for his round the world race – apparently anyone can do it, you train and keep riding, get to your first 100k and on and on. so 136k in my 60’s and round the world in my 70’s.

This is a huge personal challenge for me and I am joined by two fellow VIPs who will also be pushing out the boundaries to cycle a day. Our team is anchored by the Ride Captain Luke Humphreys so ‘Team Seniors’ will complete the whole ride.
