Story
We did it!
With times varying from 51 mins 55 secs to 1 hours 34 mins we all managed to finish and most of the seventeen did it in 5 minutes either side of an hour.
We are a group of friends who met at Southampton University OTC over 25 years ago. We have still stayed in contact but the last time we all met was at Sue's funeral . We are now 50 somethings who are running to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Charity (PCRF). We are not as fit as when we first met and we need your support as we will all be struggling through injury or general abuse and neglect of our bodies.
Sue sadly died from Pancreatic cancer on 1 October 2009. The survival rate for the cancer is just 3% - the same as it was over 30 years ago. 7800 people a year in are diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Of those, something like 5500 will be dead within 12 weeks of diagnosis. Of the remainder, all are likely to succumb within 6 to 12 months. It is a virulent and particularly nasty form of cancer. From first symptoms, Sue‘s fight was over in less than eight weeks, from diagnosis it was only six weeks.
