London to Paris Cycle Ride · 9 September 2009

We know that terminal illness turns lives upside-down. We help people live as well as possible for as long as possible and ensure their final days are comfortable and peaceful. We support families, friends and carers too. We depend on your kindness for 80% of the cost of delivering our services.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Last year my brother, Kieran, was a patient at the Heart of Kent Hospice near Maidstone for eight months before he died from cancer in November.  During this time he was looked after by a wonderful team of doctors, nurses and volunteers with dedication and love. They also provided much support to us as a family

The Heart of Kent Hospice provides free of charge care to those who need it in Maidstone and the surrounding area, as well as parts of Tonbridge and Malling.  This year the Hospice needs to raise almost £3 million to continue to provide its free range of services to patients and their families, and only 29% of this figure is Government funded, so they rely very heavily on fundraising.  At any one time the Hospice cares for 12 in-patients and another 280 in the community.

In Kieran's memory, Dave and I are going to attempt to cycle from London to Paris - 303 miles over four days - leaving on Wednesday 9 September and hopefully arriving at the Eiffel Tower on Saturday 12 September.  We are hoping to raise lots of funds for the Hospice and in order to complete this challenge, we need your help!  We need your sponsorship, so please sponsor us now!

The money raised is going to a fantastic cause and your support is very much appreciated.  Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

If you would like to support us, please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks

Suzanne & Dave
