Story
I lost my parents to cancer when I was a teenager (it seems doubly cruel that my brother should lose Paula, his wife and my wonderful sister in law - to this disease that killed our parents). From an early age, I learnt there is much in life that we cannot control.
Since then, I’ve tried to live my life according to the serenity prayer: “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Running the London Marathon is about focussing on things that I can change.
I'm running the London marathon in memory of Paula, who I loved very much, and miss very much.
And for my mum and dad too.
I'm raising funds for Maggie's Centres because they create a safe place to go when your world has just collapsed - and they provide emotional and practical support for those living with, through and beyond cancer.
