Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Mat, Chris and myself will be dusting off our goggles, donning our wetsuits and heading off across Lake Windermere (well a mile of it) as part of the Great North Swim in June. We're hoping to raise money in aid of Amy's House which provides special needs children the chance to play, laugh and learn with their siblings in a fun and friendly environment.

Amy’s House was set up by my parents after they experienced first hand the lack of facilities available for children and families dealing with special needs. My niece Molly had severe special needs and when her sister Amy died aged 8 from meningitis, they set up the Amy’s House charity in her memory to provide Molly and others with this much needed service. Sadly, we also lost Molly last year but both my beautiful nieces continue to inspire the wonderful work, and the wonderful people who support Amy’s House.

Amy’s House relies almost entirely on fundraising to allow a growing number of deserving families to be helped. Unlike many charities they are completely volunteer led and have no paid fundraisers so every penny raised goes directly to the charity and benefits the children.
