Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In the week of the 25th July, I am planning on swimming across the English Channel (+- 34 KM) as part of a 6 person relay team. Now for a guy who hasn't swam much more than a length of a swimming pool - that's a long way! The training has already started and will involve me having to swim at least 2KM per day until the event!!!

Education is something that most of us take for granted, however in Zimbabwe it is a luxury not available to all. Children in the rural areas are often denied the oportunity to attend school and spend most of their childhood working and scavenging to raise enough money to fund their next meal, let alone for school fees. The schools often don't have any infrastructure and are held in dilapidating huts or under trees with no books or basic teaching accessories.

Education is the one hope to break this vicious cycle - so please help us to help them.

ZRSDP is a charity being run out of the UK that is helping to re-build communities and school in rural Zimbabwe. Money raised from this event will go towards building both a second classroom block and teachers accomodation. Administration costs are funded by voluntary resource to ensure that the maximum amount goes to those that need it the most. Have a look at the following sites for more information on the current situation in Zimbabwe.

Your generosity will help children to have a childhood that should be their right - and in turn give them an opportunity to succeed in life.
