On the 23rd July 2009 I will be joining a group of some 20 odd friends in attempting the Three Peaks Challenge - climbing Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scaffel Pike (the highest peaks in Scotland, Wales and England respectively) in under 24 hours. A total of 3,407m; almost exactly the same height as Cusco, Peru where Amantani carry out their great work. I am a late comer to this worthy endeavour and so urgently need your generosity to help me on my way.

Some of you are perhaps yet to come across Amantani UK and their amazing work. Set up by 21-year-old Fred Branson, they work in order to improve the substandard and unjust education in some of Cusco and Peru’s most neglected regions. In May 2008, they founded a boarding school in Ccorca; Cusco’s poorest district. The school now accommodates 44 girls who previously had to walk for up to and over 3 hours to get to school each morning. Fred is currently in the process of registering Amantani UK as an official charity but we don’t want to let paperwork get in the way of fundraising for a very worthy cause this summer. So until Amantani UK gains official charitable status we will be fundraising for the boarding school project with our charity partners Latin American Foundation for the Future (LAFF) who have taken on the boarding school as one of their projects.
