Story
Thank you for visiting my fund raising page.
The Chara Challenge was founded in 2009 after 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines returned from their third tour of duty in Afghanistan. During that tour 37 of our comrades were killed in action and 167 were seriously wounded fighting the Taliban.
The purpose of the CHARA CHALLENGE 2010 is to raise money for those charities that have a proven record of meeting the needs of our service men and women, their dependants and the communities in which they live in. All of the money raised will go directly to the nominated charities, which this year includes SSAFA, The Royal Marines Charitable Trust, BLESMA and Combat Stress.
I have chosen to support BLESMA, however, if you would like to donate to one of the other charities mentioned please visit www.charachallenge.com.
The CHARA CHALLENGE is a 30 mile test of physical and mental endurance. The event replicates the final test of the Royal Marine's Commando course. I will be carrying 32lbs of weight (not including food and water) along the arduous route which traverses roads, tracks, open moorland, bogs, streams, hills and rock runs.
The 2009 event raised over £100,000 for our supported charities.
My team last year raised a staggering £7,246!! thanks to Tim, Dan and Steve - who I will really miss on the hills this year.
Your support in helping me raise money for my charity is greatly appreciated.
