Another year, another 24 hour DJ set, broadcast live over the internet in aid of JDRF, the charity that raises funds for research into a cure for Type 1 diabetes, and better treatment options for people who live with the condition 24 hours a day. Every day.

I have been doing this since 2012 (OK, it was only 17 hours then, but it ramped up in 2013) as it's the best way I know to raise money towards a charity that is very close to my heart. My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes aged 13 months, and it is a constant in her life. She has had to prick her fingers around 30,000 times since then (she is only 13), just to keep an eye on her blood sugar and make sure it is not dangerously high or low. She has to wear an insulin pump 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, just to keep her alive. On the plus side, you wouldn't know either of these things to look at her (unless you looked closely at her fingers), because this is a hidden condition that is carried on the shoulders of those who have it and those who care for them.

So on 24 August, from 8am, I will start mixing music for your listening pleasure, and I won't stop until 8am on 25 August. I will cross musical boundaries, from chillout to funk and soul, disco to house, ghetto funk to breakbeat, garage to hardcore, jazz to drum & bass, all blended as seamlessly as I can manage. You can tune in from any internet-connected device for as little or as much of the 24 hours as you like. All I ask is that if you enjoy what you hear, consider making a donation.

As an added bonus, my friends at themixingbowl.org will be filling in the rest of the weekend, starting from 6pm Friday and taking us all the way through to midnight on Sunday night (and maybe beyond, who knows?).
