Malle to Hartley Wintney Bike Ride 2013 · 22 August 2013

St John's Church is the parish church in the Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney. In April 2012, the church commenced the building of a new £2.3m Church Centre, which, when completed in June 2013, will provide new facilities for our church and wider community. Please help us to raise the final 20%.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page.

This summer, along with a team of other riders, I will be cycling 300 miles starting from the town of Malle in north-west Belgium back to Hartley Wintney. This town was picked as our starting point as it is twinned with Hartley Wintney.

We will travel to by coach to Malle on Thursday the 22nd August and then the cycling will begin the next day kicking off with 83 miles to Ghent, where we will be camping over night. The 2nd day of cyling will be a similar 80 miles ending in Dunkirk. The 3rd day will hopefully give us a bit of recovery time with the ferry crossing in the morning to Dover and then a 53 mile cycle to Ticehurst. And saving the best till last; the final day will be 84 miles over the hilly landscape of Sussex, where we will arrive nice and sweaty for a welcome party in the church.

The money I raise will be split 3 ways with 3 charities each receiving some aid:
The majority will be donated to the St John's, Hartley Wintney church centre fund . This money will go to the building of a new facility for the church and community use. The remaining funds will be donated to St Michael's Hospice, Basingstoke and The Matthew Elvidge Trust for raising awareness of depression in young people.

Donations of any size are appreciated :)
Thankyou!
