My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Please sponsor TakeMyLead (Daryl Seeley) who is taking up the Arctic challenge of the 'Lapland Husky Trail 2010'. In loving memory of my Mum Rita who sadly passed away on 24th February 2010

Did you know that there is NO VACCINE against Meningitis B - the strain which causes almost 90 per cent of all cases in the UK and can kill in under four hours.... It also revealed that 38% of parents mistakenly believe their children had been vaccinated against all forms of meningitis - despite there being NO vaccine against Meningitis B.

I am taking part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will be giving me the chance to raise vital funds for MRF. Money raised through sponsorship will go towards funding research into meningitis and septicaemia, supporting those affected by the diseases and raising awareness of the dangers.

It can effect any age group but most in danger are babies, toddlers and young adults

I expect a long, but extremely rewarding week – at least 14 hours per day. I will be driving my own team of six spirited Huskies 250km across frozen wastelands with civilisation left far behind from Norway through Sweden to my Lapland destination 'The Ice Hotel'

I will spend 6 days sledding through rolling highlands, deep forest and frozen lakes into the heart of Lapland.  Sledding from northern Norway crossing the Swedish border through wild and untouched nature. In the early morning light I will be cooking my breakfast, feeding, cleaning and harnessing my own dedicated team of six Huskies, sledding by day and then I will be erecting and sleeping in a traditional Swedish  'Lavvu' tent under the sherbert glow of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), tending my six Huskies in freezing night time temperatures falling below -20 should give me a true feeling for living as the Laplanders do....a real 'hands on' challenge. This challenge is about more than just witnessing the wild forests and ice valleys of Lapland, it is about becoming a part of it and gaining the true Norway/Lapland experience.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation!

Its a fantastic charity...so please, dig deep and sponsor this worthy cause!

Many Thanks

Daryl Seeley - TakeMySledge - Norway / Sweden / Lapland
