London to Brighton Challenge · 25 May 2013 ·
We all know or have known somebody who's battled cancer. More than one in three of us will get it at some stage. Macmillan are the real people out there supporting our loved ones and us, but they need our money to keep doing it.
The London to Brighton Challenge is a tough walk of 65 miles, which we have to complete in under 30 hours. We leave Richmond at 7:00a.m. on the 25th May and keep on going until we reach Brighton.
I'm walking with my work mates Carol and Jo, together known as the Devon Scrummies Team. The walk has taken on greater meaning for us as we're now walking in memory of our much loved and missed friend and colleague Ross McBride, who recently lost his battle with cancer. We know he'll be walking with us on the day.
Macmillan nurses help people through treatment and are part of the rhabilitation support team. The support line advises people on benefit entitlment. The volunteers provide much needed practical support and the campaigners push for better cancer care. These services are 99% funded by supporters.
