Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 10th June, I will be abseiling from the Forth Rail Bridge in aid of Penumbra. They are a charity which runs several mental health services in Scotland, including the Edinburgh Crisis Centre. The support and safe haven the Centre's been for me over the last few years has been invaluable, and at times life-saving.
Most people will know I'm scared of heights, so this will be a huge individual challenge for me, but the smallest of thank you's & support for the Centre's work.
Any donation - small, large or moral support(!) - will be hugely appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read.
Edinburgh Crisis Centre provides practical and emotional support to anyone over 16 within Edinburgh facing a crisis which is affecting their mental health. People self-refer for support that is available 24/7 via phone, e-mail & text, as well as 1:1 support at the Centre including overnight stays. All the services are available to carers too. It's a comfortable and safe space in the community for people to find their way through what happening for them.
The helpline receives over 10,000 calls per year, of which c.1/3 are from people having suicidal thoughts/plans. The Centre has provided help to over 3500 people, and has continues to have c.150 new callers each month.
There's more information about, and photos of the Centre here:
