Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I haven't cycled regularly for about 4 years, but I decided to challenge myself with a 320 mile ride this year. Over 4 days, a group of Guide Leaders like myself, will cycle through France and on part of the Tour de France route, over the mountains into Switzerland. We'll be covering about 80 miles a day - that's from Poole where I live to Worthing, W. Sussex.
I've been training regularly, cycling to school and back everyday, towing my 2 boys (combined weight over 5 stone) in a trailer attached to my bike. I've also used this opportunity to make positive changes to my life. I joined Slimming World in December and I've now lost almost 3 stone in weight (equivalent to my 4 year old boy!) In March, my 8 year old daughter and I started learning karate and we're having fun and getting fit.
One hundred years of giving girls and women opportunities to come together to develop skills and confidence and build better communities is a significant achievement. What better way to celebrate this than by taking forward Olave Baden-Powell's vision of giving a girl a dream and creating a new fund for guiding - the Centenary Fund.
We strive to ensure that a lack of money won't stop young women making the most of the opportunities open to them. The Centenary Fund builds on Olave Baden-Powell's original legacy and with your generous support, we can ensure that many more girls will realise that the biggest barrier to reaching their goals is their imagination!
