Story
Approximately, how many times a day do we use water? Making wudhu, having a shower, making cups of tea, cooking, cleaning, washing , drinking - the list is endless. Now imagine, you had to travel miles and miles to get clean water. Doesn't sound too bad right? Now imagine travelling miles and miles for hours on end for your nearest water supply for it to be filled insects, dirt and brown in colour. For many of us, this thought is unfathomable. Yet this is the reality for thousands and thousands of people across the world.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: 'The best form of charity is to give someone water (to drink)'. This year, as part of our 3 week charity week, USIC is working with Human Relief Foundation to raise money to build deep tube wells in Ghana. These wells will provide a community living in water poverty access to clean, fresh water for many lifetimes.
In order to help raise money, I am challenging myself to climb Scafell Pike in the Lake District, the tallest mountain in England! Remember, no amount is too small. Every penny of your donations will make a huge difference to the lives of people in Ghana and will act as a sadaqah jaariyah for you and your loved ones.
May allah accept our efforts and make us amongst those who he is pleased with.
