These boots had better be made for walking!!!

Loch Lomond Mighty Hike 2017 · 3 June 2017 ·
So the reason for putting myself through walking 26 miles in one day (dear feet/legs/body/mind please don’t give up on me) is one that all of us are becoming all too familiar with I have been affected by Cancer.
My granddad whom I loved very much and taught me many things like how to clean my teeth properly, how to read and how to cheat at monopoly of which I am not so good at, succumbed to cancer roughly 14 years ago and I saw how the man I once looked up to and respected couldn’t have the strength speak to me on my finally visit to him and I also recall the phone call I received from a friend to advise me that another one of our friends had been diagnosed with cancer and hadn’t been given long to live. The results in both these cases are heart-breaking and even as I write this it brings a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.
The facts a while back said that 1 in 4 people would be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their life time and it terrified me then to think it could be me or a family member or close friend but now the statics have change its now 1 in 2 people born in the UK after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their life time. Now this could be me or my husband Steven, it could be me or a one of my parents or brothers or close family and friends it could even be YOU reading this right now.
Although not to sound all doom and gloom it’s also know that cancer survival in the UK has doubled in the last 40 years and I know friends whom have fought and won their battle against cancer and continue to win.
So this is for the warriors whom lost, the warriors that continue to fight and the ones who beat its arse and that’s why I’m doing this because who knows what is round on the corner, to hearing those words that absolutely no one wants to hear and no one no matter what their circumstances should ever face cancer alone.
So find it somewhere in that pocket, purse, and wallet or down the back of the sofa to that loose change in your car ashtray to sponsor me as you never know when you may be calling on the help of this great cause to get you or someone you love through the hardest battle the fight that is Cancer.
And lastly a big thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
