I have bravely volunteered to do a sponsored sky dive to help fund the creation of a play centre in the cancer treatment waiting room at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford.
The current waiting room is like any typical waiting room - white, clinical and full of rows of chairs - not a great experience for children who are going through a tough period in their life, either because they or their parent/sibling is receiving cancer treatment.
Those of you that know me well will know how truly terrified of doing this I am! But we have/will all know someone throughout our lives that will suffer from this terrible illness and if we can bring a small element of relief to the lives of these children who don’t necessarily understand what is going on around them then it is worth all the fear. Besides, my fear is nothing compared to that of the children that will benefit from this sky dive.
