Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I can't believe that I have been lucky enough to gain a charity place through Parkinson's UK to run the London Marathon on 24th April 2016.
My dad was diagnosed in 2008 and his doctor was shocked at how young he was at only 51. Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. People with Parkinson's don't have enough of a chemical called dopamine because some nerve cells in their brain have died. Without dopamine people can find that their movements become slower so it takes longer to do things. The loss of nerve cells in the brain causes the symptoms of Parkinson's to appear. There's currently no cure for Parkinson's and we don't yet know why people get the condition. Parkinson's doesn't directly cause people to die, but symptoms do get worse over time. My dad lives by the phrase, "I have Parkinson's, but Parkinson's doesn't have me". He makes me proud everyday, now I want to make him proud.
I am holding various events to raise money to help me reach my pledge; the first being a cake sale at The Swan in Harleston on 5th December; a kids party on 30th January at The Apollo, Harleston, hosted by Funforce. You can purchase your tickets in advance by paying £4 per child here and please state names and kids party; lastly I'm hosting a Clairvoyant Evening with Fiona Nichols on 18th February at The Apollo. Again, please purchase tickets in advance by paying £7 pp here and stating your name and that its for the clairvoyant eve. Thank you for your support.
