We offer care, support and information to anyone affected by breast cancer

Story

Hi I`m climbing Ben Nevis on Saturday 3rd September 2011 to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

This is a charity very close to my heart as i have friends and family who have had breast cancer and thankfully recovered.

I had breast cancer when my youngest daughter was only 4 months old. I found a large lump under my arm on November 17th 1996. I was 34 years old. I had a lumpectomy the following Wednesday. My breast cancer was unusual as the lump was a cluster of cells and a tumour was not found. I had the lump removed on New Years Eve followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I took tomoxifen for 7 years.

Breast Cancer had a huge impact on my life. Looking back now (14 years later) I can see that i suffered with depression for many years after. On the positive side I have been able to support others and give them encouragement that there is life after breast cancer.

I am really excited about taking part in the Ben Nevis Challenge and raising money for Breast Cancer Care.
