Tara's Mammoth Ride · 19 June 2013

People affected by prostate cancer need breakthrough treatments. Research is the only way to turn this hope into reality. Combining patient stories and scientific expertise, we fund projects that have a real impact, reducing side-effects, cutting treatment costs and ultimately improving outcomes.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

(You are awesome just for visiting, and will be ever so more awesome for reading the below... and of course donating! ) J

Starting on 19th June 2013,  I am taking part in a mahoosive (that’s really big) 225km bike ride in France. Along with 9 other work colleagues I will be cycling from Paris to Orleans via Fontainebleau, with the sole purpose of raising money and awareness for my 2 chosen charities. The Prostate Cancer Research Centre and Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice.

The Prostate Cancer Research Centre carries out research into the causes of and treatment for the UK’s most frequently diagnosed male cancer. Unfortunately 1 man every hour dies from Prostate Cancer, most of the time from it not being caught early enough. By funding research into this and raising awareness we can really make a difference.

It is because of charities such as this research centre that my amazing Grandad is still hanging out with us young’uns today J

Chestnut Tree is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions from Sussex and South East Hampshire.
There are potentially 1,000 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological and bereavement support, end of life and short break care and sibling support.  The hospice costs £2.5 million per year to run. Families are never charged for their care and less than 8p in every pound is funded by the government, so they rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of fundraisers.

Over the past few years the Cellular Solutions team have raised over £75,000 – so with your help this event will help take us over the £100,000 mark – with the aim of reaching £250,000 over the next four years from our cycling fundraising.

For my personal fundraising target I am looking to raise £500+ for PCRC & Chestnut

Cellular Solutions will match like for like any funds we raise up to £5,000.  Our overall total fundraising target for the event is £30,000. Every donation will help towards this figure that will make a significant difference to those less fortunate than ourselves. Every penny donated goes to charity and not towards the costs of the event thanks to sponsorship of the event by one of our network partners.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
