We are hoping you will be able to join us for our walk in memory of Jewel along her favourite beach at Ballywalter on Sunday 28th August. We are also hoping you will be able to make a small donation in support of all the great work now being done in the fight against Ovarian Cancer.
6,500 women in the UK are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer each year. Early symptoms are often mistaken for much less serious conditions and together with low awareness of the disease, this too often leads to late diagnosis. Survival rates are therefore shockingly low at just one in three - unchanged in 30 years. In contrast, early diagnosis more than doubles survival rates to 70%.
Target Ovarian Cancer is a registered charity committed to raising awareness of the disease amongst women and GPs and pharmcists to enhance early diagnosis rates. They are also determined to invest in research and development into new techniques for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
