Acorns supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity needs to raise £14 million each year to provide its care services across hospices and community settings. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable.

<p><em><strong>TEAM ACORNS at the GREAT NORTH RUN&nbsp;</strong></em> <br>raising money for the Acorns Children's Hospice.<br><br>The <em><strong>Greatest Team</strong></em> will be taking part in the <em><strong>Greatest Half Marathon</strong></em> in the World on Sunday 18h September 2011.<br><br>Since this time last year over <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">&pound;7000 </span></strong>has already been collected for ACORNS by various members of <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>TEAM ACORNS</strong> </span>, undertaking such challenges as&nbsp; <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">2010 GNR, SANTA RUN, NETBALL</span></strong> Tournament, <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">LONDON MARATHON, GREAT NORTH SWIM</span></strong>, and the <span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>96 mile WEST HIGHLAND WAY</strong></span>.<br><br>The &lsquo;individuals&rsquo; will now come together as a group to take part in the <br><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>31st&nbsp; GREAT NORTH RUN.</strong></span><br><br><strong>Alister </strong>Robson, <strong>Allan </strong>Smith, <strong>Danny </strong>Lim, <strong>Denise </strong>Mason, <strong>Dougie </strong>Nisbet,</p> <p><strong>Emma</strong> Detchon, <strong>Fiona </strong>Shenton, <strong>Gavin </strong>Burton, <strong>George </strong>Nicholson, <strong>Greta</strong> Jones,</p> <p><strong>Harry </strong>Harrison, <strong>Jacquie </strong>Robson, <strong>Jane </strong>Ives, <strong>Joanne </strong>Porter, <strong>Karen </strong>Chalkley<strong>, </strong></p> <p><strong>Kathryn </strong>Sygrove, <strong>Keri</strong> Pearson,<strong>Mike </strong>Elliott, <strong>Pam </strong>Kirkup, <strong>Sam </strong>Brown,<br><strong></strong></p> <p><strong>Stef </strong>Barlow<strong>, Lindsay </strong>Tarn<br><br>Acorns cares for children and young people who have life limiting and life threatening conditions. This means they are unlikely to reach adulthood as a cure for their condition cannot be found.<br>Acorns provides short break, emergency and end-of-life care and they have a community team to support families 24-hours a day, seven days a week.<br>This wonderful, dedicated care is expensive and this is where you can help!
