The Butterfly Trust provides face to face social support to Scotland’s Cystic Fibrosis community. Services include advocacy & advice, welfare benefits, housing, education, employment, befriending & mentoring, massage therapy & transport.

Story

<div id="story" class="frp-message-body" style="height: auto;"> <p>Family &amp; Friend's of Kirsteen Lambe aged 15 who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis (CF)&nbsp;one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases. Is taking part in The West Highland Way on the 02-06 Sep 2011 for THE BUTTERFLY TRUST&nbsp;who support people in Scotland with CYSTIC FIBROSIS.</p> <p>&nbsp;Each one of us has to have a minium pledge of &pound;300, we're asking all our friends &amp; family to help with this&nbsp;with donating, so please dig deep and donate to this great cause.&nbsp;</p> <p>Kirsteen was diagnosed with Cf at the Age of 8 1/2 months old. It has been a struggle for Kirsteen through out her life, she has had her up's and down's but still mangages to stay strong, she takes a varitey of medication and also has 2 sessions of physiotheraphy each day to keep her well. Kirsteen had a Porto-caf inserted in her chest when she was 6 and then need a new one when she was 13 meaning having to have&nbsp;another operation to insert new one&nbsp;&nbsp;to make life easier for her drugs to be given while in Hospital..</p> <p>Kirsteen leads an active life and can keep up with her friends, also her school particapes with her physiotherapy and takes an interest in her well being.</p> <p>On the outside people with Cystic Fibrosis can look perfectly normal but on the inside peolpe are more likely to suffer from a number of distressin conditions including lung damage, malnutrition, diabetes,liver diseases and gallstones,&nbsp;Nasal Polyps in witch Kirsteen has had surgery&nbsp;7 times.&nbsp;These disorders seriously affect quality of life as well as LIFE EXPECTANCY</p> <p>1 in 25 ..... the odds are that someone you know carries the CF gene.</p> <p>Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diease.</p> <p>1 in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis.</p> <p>If two carriers start a family, each baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis.</p> <p>NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL , PLEASE DONATE TODAY</p> </div> <p>&nbsp;</p>
