Story
On the 27th November 2011 our second child, Bumble was sadly still born. On that day we became members of a select group that no-one wants to join! A group of parents that spend the rest of their lives asking why? No-one warns you this could happen, and we were astonished that in the UK 17 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every single day! A shocking statistic that despite medical advances and improved diagnostic procedures doesnt show any sign of decreasing....
We are sadly unable to change the outcome for our beautiful daughter, but the reality of this situation is that a number of these deaths could be prevented. Sands does a tremendous job of supporting parents and funding research to help reduce the unacceptable levels of baby loss and we are passionate about driving awareness and raising funds to help Sands deliver on their national strategy (WHY17). If our collective efforts could help reduce this number by just 1 baby to 16 a day, 365 less babies would die every year and thousands of parents, grandparents, families and friends would never have to ask why?
On 23rd May 2012 I join a group I feel privileged to be part of!! A group of family and friends who are giving freely of their time and money to support driving awareness and fund raising for this truly wonderful charity!
For 4 days in May - Team Bumble Scott Woodland, Tony Popham, Mike Cooper, James Mumby, Alex Nash, Wayne Meenagh, Chris Black & Michael Cobb will be joining me for 500km (4 day) cycle ride from Giants Causeway to Cork! None of us are experienced cyclists, most of us are over 35 and until recently many of us didnt even have bikes.... But failure is not an option and we will go the distance for this wonderful cause.
Please join us in this journey by sharing this with as many of your friends and colleagues as possible. We are understandably keen to raise money, but equally desperate to raise awareness that will help support strategies to reduce so many tragic losses.
Thank you for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page. Your support means a lot to us, and any donation you make will make an incredible difference!
Many thanks
