We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation exists to find the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications, and is the world's largest charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research.  It was founded by a small group of parents of children with type 1 diabetes who recognised that insulin injections are not the cure for this lifelong and life threatening condition.

The walk itself is the fastest growing fundraising event in the history of JDRF, with Walks in more than 200 locations around the world including the , and .  This means that we will be joining hundreds of thousands of people literally walking around the world to help JDRF to take the final steps towards the cure.  The 5 mile Walk to Cure Diabetes events aim to get the whole community up, active and raising money to find the cure.

In addition to the 5km walk, there will also be for the first time, a 5k run which will take place beforehand – if anyone is feeling particularly fit, perhaps try both!!

The day itself will be full of fun with refreshments, entertainment, games and activities for all the family.  I can’t stress enough how much this is a family day and it would be great if we could get as many people walking as possible – the route is suited for those taking buggies, dogs etc.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
