As you can see from the latest images we all managed to complete the walk and finished our day with some well earned refreshment back at Champers.
The day started at 7.45am where the Mayor of Hillindon started us off from the hospice, and where team Champers caused a bit of a stir with their loud T shirts, mad dogs and Sue's wig and pink feather boa! The walk began through Moor Park and Rickmansworth golf courses, then along the towpath to Springwell Lock at Harefield. This was the 3 mile point where the Team split up and said well done to Bernie for a great effort in completing her part of the walk. The 7 milers (originally 3 milers) Gerry, Sue and Deb continued along the towpath to the Coy Carp and then up thorugh Harefield, Northwood and back to the Hospice. Well done girls on doing the extra distance. The 12 milers,Pete,Gary.Gwen,Gill,Dot and Deborah, continued from Springwell Lock up through to Heronsgate and then across to Chalfont St Giles. At this point they decided to have some light refreshment to help continue with the rest of the walk. From the Chalfonts they then made their way up to Maple Cross, the Coy Carp and up through Harefield and Northwood and back to the hospice where they received a magnficent reception from the rest of the team. A special mention also to Deborah for completing the extra distance (we know you suffered!).
As you know we undertook this walk to raise funds for the hospice at Mount Vernon which couldnt survive without events llike this. All Team members will tell you of the special experiences of the day and of some very special people who we met. We couldnt have achieved this without our sponsors and so we would like to thank every single one of you for giving your support and helping us reach what you will agree is an extraordinary target.
Thank you from Team Champers xx
ps. keep checking as you will see the money still coming in and we will try and share some more photos of our day
