Denmead Cycle Ride 2009 · 19 July 2009

Help A Local Child, the very own charity of Ocean FM, awards grants to groups working with children in the local area. HALC raises money by holding events throughout the year in association with the radio station, including Film Premiere's, Fundraising Dinners, sponsored abseils, and sponsored running events.

Team Clash (the name comes from the 7-a-side football team which is the closest common denominator for us) are Ilse Welton, June Murray, Corrine McNicholl, Robbie Graham, Stu Martin, Matt Graham, and Jon Ridges.   We're taking part in the Denmead Charity Cycle Ride, being held on Sunday 19 July, in aid of Heart Radio's Help A Local Child charity and the Hayling Island RNLI.   Not being the fittest of entrants we've opted for the middle distance of 20 miles, and rest assured that will be taxing enough, especially if the weather is hot !!

Please help us to raise as much money as possible for these worthwhile causes - it couldn't be easier than via JustGiving.com.

And if you fancy having a go at the event yourself pop in to the Harvest Home in Denmead to register, or contact Mike Thwaites on miket@m-tecs.co.uk - it's a real good day out !!    There are 3 routes available, 10 miles, 20 miles and 35 miles, the event is open to all ages and abilities, and is definitely not a race. The idea is to have fun and raise money for the nominated charities.   And the best bit is that after the ride, Harvest Home will be holding a BBQ along with live music into the evening !!

Update - 20 July.   Just to say we all completed the course successfully, managed to avoid the rain although the stiff wind made for some testing riding in places.   All in all the day seemed to go well with plenty of riders around - will be interesting to see how fund raising went this year.
