Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page, and a huge thank you to all who have sponsored us so far - it is much appreciated, and every penny raised will help those soldiers and their families injured in service.

UPDATE:

We have now all completed Reading Half Marathon, and our results are below for those of you interested:

Carys: 2:07:08

Rhian: 1:26:59

Bethan: 1:45:50

Elinor: 1:49:59

All of us ran under our target times which is brilliant news, and thanks so much for sponsoring us and supporting us, knowing we were being paid so much in sponsorship kept us going on the cold rainy mornings. THANK YOU!

Team H-J consists of Carys, Rhian, Bethan and Elinor Hampson-Jones and we are running the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 21st March 2010. For coverage of our efforts so far please see the below links:

As most of you are no no doubt aware, our adopted Coldstream Guard Mark Clyde (Carys's husband, so she is only an honourary H-J now!) was badly injured while serving on a tour of Afghanistan (love the way they call it a 'tour'...makes it sound like they are on holiday) and was flown back home immediately to undergo surgery at Selly Oak. Although Mark is well on the road to recovery, some of his colleagues have been more severely injured - and some have made the ultimate sacrifice.

As a result we have decided to run the Reading Half Marathon to raise money for the Coldstream Guards Charitable Fund who provide assistance to all ranks of the Coldstream Guards, both past and present, their wives, widows, children and other dependants. With only one of us having completed a half marathon before this is a real challenge and the training has kicked in already, despite the snow and cold!

If you don't want to make a donation via justgiving, and would prefer to send a cheque or other please contact Rhian (rhian81@hotmail.com) or visit our website www.teamh-j.blogspot.com where we will also be keeping you up to date with our training to show you that we are earning any sponsorship!

Any amounts welcome, however small you may percieve them to be - the charity does a great job for families of those wounded or killed in service, as well as supporting the families while the soldiers are away, and every little helps.

Alternatively, please visit our friends page www.justgiving.com/SupportingTeamHJHelp4Heroes who are raising money for Help for Heroes and also running Reading Half Marathon.
