Story
On Sunday 21st July a team of up to 15 people will be taking part in the Blackpool Summer 10K. The team is made up of staff, family & friends from Lovania Nurseries Ltd; and consists of people who've never run before to triathaletes & a marathon runner!
We're using this event as a chance to raise money for a fantastic charity - Cystic Fibrosis Trust. In particular we're helping raise funds for a family friend who's son suffers from the disease. Here is his story ...
Brandon Beech has Cystic Fibrosis, his life is a constant battle, he has physio twice a day to remove the mucus that builds up in his lungs and also uses a nebuliser with various different medications 5 times a day, this delivers the anti biotics direct into his lungs. On top if this he also has around 40 tablets a day.
Brandon looks healthy on the outside but with CF all the damage is inside the body. CF is one of the UK's most common life threatening inherited diseases, with CF the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system become clogged with thick, sticky mucus. There are currently 10,000 people living in the UK with CF, and each week 5 babies are born with CF and 2 young lives are lost to CF!
Brandon is an inspiration to his family and he never moans about his illness or endless medications, he doesn't let CF get in his way, he loves football and keeping fit and active which helps keep him as well as he can be. Every 3 months he has to go into hospital for a 2wk stay on an antibiotic drip to give him the boost he needs to keep him well. There are so many children out there just like Brandon and the work the CF trust do developing new medications and working to one day finding a cure is amazing!
Please help me raise as much as possible for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and sponsor us. Many thanks.
