MindWise is a leading membership based mental health charity in Northern Ireland. We have been working with and for people of all ages directly affected by mental health issues as well as families, carers, employers and teachers for over 50 years.

Story

The McKeowns and extended family and friends are taking up the challenge of the Belfast Marathon on May 2nd 2011 - around a dozen of us running and many more supporting!

We're running to raise money for MindWise, a Northern Ireland mental health charity. Charities like MindWise are much needed, fighting the stigmas and misundertanding often associated with mental illness, whilst also being there to provide pratical support to those people often forgotten and struggling for help.

In part, our inspiration for this Marathon Challenge is Brendan McKeown (father to 6 of us). Brendan has suffered from schizophrenia for many years. He has also run no fewer than 13 marathons in his time... quickest race time of 3hs 01 minute!
