Story
The time has come for a real challenge.!
This Fundraising Page is for Team Sirens who are preparing to embark on The Forces March 2011 to raise money for Project 65 - The Veteran's Charity, which supports a beloved charity Help For Heroes.
I have served in the British Army and was blessed with great friends and memories. I can honestly say I loved my time in the armed forces, including operational tours, but was very lucky to come out unscathed, with the ability to lead a great life.
I have a brother who I am very proud of, who is still serving after 21yrs and helping soldiers at Headley Court on Battle Back. I also have many friends who are still risking their lives for our country and recently completed an operational tour of Afganistan, where 3 of their own paid the ultimate price and others were seriously injured.
I was lucky enough to have recently met Derek Derenalagi in Watford and he is awe inspiring. A massive proud Fijian, with a massive heart. He was injured in a bomb blast in Afganistan and just like us he has served his time, but paid a price. Rather than being bitter, he seeks to help other injured soldiers and represent our country and that is what we want to do at team Sirens.
Help us to help our heroes and give generously!
The Forces March 2011 will see competitors completing 5 marathons in 5 days travelling all the way from North Devon to Wiltshire. The 132 mile journey will take every ounce of effort that Team Sirens have as this surpasses any challenge they have completed before.
The proceeds from Team Sirens's fundraising is going to Project 65 - The Veteran's Charity who provide care and support for wounded UK armed forces personnel and bereaved families. The money that Project 65 raise is shared between many beneficiaries including The Army Benevolent Fund, BLESMA, Help for Heroes, The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, St Dunstan's, The Royal British Legion and The Royal Navy Benevolent Trust.
