I DID IT!!! Finished in 4 hours 25 minutes and 4 seconds. Running the marathon was so tough - much much harder than I thought it was going to be. Feeling very exhausted and very proud of myself now! Thank you so much to you all for all your support and sponsorship.
As if training for the London marathon wasn’t hard enough – raising £1,500 for Kids Kidney Research is also a big challenge. I’m lucky enough to have some fantastic friends and family who are not only supporting me running the marathon but have completed a 5-mile run themselves and contributed their sponsorship to my total marathon target for Kids Kidney Research. I can’t thank them enough for this amazing support and we had a great time running our ‘Team Ellie Danby’ pre-marathon race on 20 March.
As you may already know, our son Sam suffers from a kidney disease called Nephrotic Syndrome. He was diagnosed when he was 17 months old and has been on medication for the condition since then. It was a huge shock when he was diagnosed as we’d never even heard of Nephrotic Syndrome – we’d now probably class ourselves as experts on the subject! We’re very fortunate that Sam’s form of Nephrotic Syndrome responds well to treatment and he should (hopefully) grow out of it during adolescence. However, if it wasn’t for the work of organisations such as Kids Kidney Research then he wouldn’t have the medicine and treatments that are available to him now.
So please help me to reach my target of £1,500 for Kids Kidney Research which will go towards helping more kids, like Sam, with kidney diseases in the future.
Now I just need to worry about the training….
