Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are running to raise money for Cure Leukaemia, a charity based in the West Midlands.  The charity funds work that is helping to find cures and treatments for many haematological diseases.

Team Haem is made up primarily of staff who work in the haematology department of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. it includes doctors and nursing staff, haematology laboratory staff, pharmacists, medical secretaries and various other assorted enthusiastic friends. We also have two (three now!) team members who were patients with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia treated here at Worcester (and Birmingham) so this challenge, and the money raised for Cure Leukaemia will have an even greater significance. We are  very pleased to have them with us and running as part of the team.

Team members: Nick Pemberton, Kate Arthur, Lucy Carmody, Rafael Alves, Michaela Berry, Victoria Bennett, Gurminder Bhogal, Becky Bothwick, Fiona Box, Adam Carter, Leanne Challoner, Nick Cooke, Rachael Cooke, Becky Hardman, Julia Heron, Sam Leonard, Emma Loxley, Marie MacNally, Emma Masters, Kirsti Morson, Richard Newman, Charlotte Passingham, Dave Pearce, Julia Pearce, Grace Perry, Karen Perry, Tom Rees, Sam Toland, Andy Wilce, Clemmy Stott, Kayleigh Morris.

We are all delighted to be running the Birmingham half marathon to raise money for this great charity. The charity has strong links to the Haematology unit here in Worcestershire and helps fund vital research nurses which enable us to participate in the latest clinical trials. Because of this our patients with haematological cancer  have access to the latest treatments.
