Story
Courageous men from Babcock Skills & Learning’s Lakeside Office will be taking to the roads of the Isle of Wight, for the round the island route riding 70 miles of coastline, whilst tackling some major hills in-between. None of the team are expert cyclists and the majority have not seen a bike for quite a few years by the look of them, but all have committed to the challenge in order to raise money for an excellent cause in order to raise funds for Babcock's nominated charity of choice, St John Ambulance. Please give generously, the more money we raise the more lives we can save.
The Challenge
The 70 mile endeavour follows the Round the Island cycle route which takes in minor roads and lanes wherever possible. The route will be ridden clockwise following the blue & white highways signs with a blue island and white cycle.
The ride will take place on 17th July 2015 both starting and finishing at Ryde. The start time is 0800hrs and the finish time will be somewhat later but hopefully on the same day.
Please contact any of the riders if you want to enjoy the spectacle, or if you would like to take part in the ride, or help in any way during the day. Currently on the starting line-up are:
Adam Tindal, Chris Hillyer, Dean Hurley, Gavin Dollery, Gary Hemphill, Norman Baldwin and Terry Hoare.
