Story

Jenna's beautiful niece Lana Rose Fishwick lost her fight against cancer aged just 3 years. Team Skid are doing the Manchester to Blackpool 60 mile bike ride to help raise money in support of  ‘CLIC Sargent’, one of the charities which helped Lana and her family and to help other families going through similar experiences.

After Lana had experienced the trauma of a 12 hour operation to remove a brain tumour, our bright, bubbly Lana was unable to speak or to walk. Although Lana had lost her own mobility, mobility around the hospital and community was especially important to Lana and her family. CLIC Sargent provided Lana with a buggy, which enabled her to access the community with her family, whilst still residing at the hospital. This meant that Lana was able to get around the hospital grounds and access the playroom, as well as visiting local shops and parks. A buggy may seem like a small thing but it made a massive difference to Lana’s mobility and quality of life.

CLIC Sargent also provided a social worker who identified all the available support and assisted in completing any forms required to secure this, taking the strain off the family.

As the weeks went on our brave little Princess learnt how to talk again and our beautiful Lana Rose with her infectious smile and laugh came back to her family. In her last weeks she was able to go back to nursery to see her friends, spend quality time with her Mummy and Daddy and playing with her new baby Sister.

As you can imagine when Lana Rose passed away, it shattered our world, devastating her family but CLIC Sargent gave support and helped with her funeral costs enabling her family to give Lana the beautiful service that she deserved.

Team Skid will be training hard for the Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride, it will not be easy but we are determined to do our bit to help other children and their families who are battling with cancer. All donations for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.
