Back in August 2004, while putting the final touches to a workshop I had built, I fell from the roof shattering my ankle.
As a result of my accident I ended up having a below the knee amputation at
During my time at the Hospital I learnt that you only get out of life what you put in.
I was treated by some truly dedicated loving and experienced staff in the amputee rehabilitation field and made some really good friends on the way.
It was one of these Friends ‘Laura’ who was my Physio during my rehabilitation who first made me aware of this fund raising event to climb .
As a result we will both be accompanying Ray Edwards (A Quad Amputee) and Stan Hetherington (who both organized this event) this year in September on the climb.
We hope to have a party of 25 people which include six amputees, some prosthetics, physio's and other AHP’s; each individual raising a minimum of £4000 any way they can.
The Limbless Association works to help facilitate a better life (and are a valuable resource) for amputees. They provide support and advice to amputees and their families and provide a network from which they can exchange information and experiences. The funds generated by this challenge will go towards the development of the LA’s Professional, specialist amputee counselling service, dedicated complaints and advocacy service, Parliamentary and campaigns department, LA handbook and educational DVD, sports & fitness, education, training, sponsorships, scholarships and more.
I am sure you will agree that this is a worthwhile cause, so I/we would appreciate any sponsorship/donation you can afford.
