Whilst working at the Virgin London Marathon Expo this year, the most common question beyond nutrition advice was 'So have you ever run a marathon?' I am not a natural long-distance runner and so of course my answer was no! However, that is all about to change as I have taken up the challenge of the Chester marathon (my home town). In the build up I have run the Bupa London 10 km and am running the Maidenhead half marathon in September. I have chosen Access Sport as my charity so that they can provide young people with the opportunity to play sport, meet new people and learn new skills to help keep them off the streets.
Access Sport helps transform the lives of young people in disadvantaged communities through the power of sport. Volunteer-led sports clubs offer excellent youth development pathways, offering local kids the chance to meet new friends, learn new skills and stay out of gangs. Access Sport helps these local clubs to realise their full potential by offering advice, support and financial subsidy. They help to empower the inspirational club leaders who make such an impact in their community, and give them the chance to help get more local kids into sport.
Access Sport would not be able to carry out this groundbreaking work without the fantastic support of people like you, so please dig deep and sponsor me.
