I'm sorry it has taken me so long to update this page, but we have now arrived in Singapore after a busy refit in Gold Coast Austrailia. The Race up to Singapore was longest of the Race so far and was certainly the hottest although there was very little wind!
The picture is of Qingdao being lifted back into the water after a hull inspection and fresh anti-fouling, applied by the Crew I might add!
We are 6 months into our journey are just about half way round to 'tying the knot', the full circumnavigation!
A big Thank You to everyone who has donated, I'm sorry I can't thank you all personally. It is fantastic that I am over half way to my target with half of the Race still to complete. You do not have to wait for me to finish the Race before making your donation, the bags could save many lives in 6 months!
I met with Penny and Alistair Dickson before the race start, the founders of the Sandpiper Trust. The work the Trust does is truely amazing, but it is also incredible that the Bags and Vehicle Locators are soley funded by the Trust.
The Sandpiper Trust provides first response bags to remote areas in Scotland. These Bags could save a premature baby being delivered in a remote croft, or an injured motorcyclist on a remote Highland road.
When will someone you love need immediate care?
These Bags are so good they are even being used by the Marines in Afghanistan!
£10000 may seem a huge target, but with the Clipper Race covering 40,000 miles and it being the longest race on the Planet.......... that works out at just 25 pence a mile!!
This is a Scottish based Charity, but the Sandpiper Bags have been so successful, they are now in use in remote locations around the globe.
Cheers Terry
