I hereby vow to abstain from alcohol for the month of August by way of raising awareness and money for Solace. (Those of you that know me will know what a wrench this will be !!!)

Solace is a charity that provides essential support to people experiencing the consequences of trauma and now living in Yorkshire. Without the support - practical and emotional - that Solace provides, many of these vulnerable people would, I am sure, be swallowed up or destroyed by the asylum/support or benefits system which is supposed to be there for them.

I have been working as an interpreter with Solace for the last five years. This has given me a privileged insight into the lives of people whom Solace supports. Whilst it is impossible to put oneself in the shoes of others who have suffered the unimaginable, it is humbling to see what Solace can achieve. And the achievements of Solace, in terms of helping people survive past and present suffering, are immeasurable.

Your contribution to the work of Solace has an immediate - sometimes, life-or-death - impact on the lives of many people living in the margins of the Yorkshire area. Making a donation to Solace through Justgiving is safe, secure, and efficient: adding Gift Aid means that your donation goes even further.

Many thanks for your generosity and support.

Terry B.
