We provide a lifetime of support to the wider Army Family.

Story

Both my Great Uncle Henry and Grandfather Arthur served in the British Army in World War 1. Henry was a volunteer but was killed on the Somme aged 20 and Arthur was a regular soldier who served throughout the War and was awarded the DCM for gallantry. He survived but rarely spoke about his experience in the trenches.

This walk is in their honour. I will be walking along the British sector of the Western Front, from the Somme in France to Ypres in Belgium, where both Henry and Arthur served. The total distance over 3 days is 75 miles which is more than I have ever walked before so quite a personal challenge for my 50 year old legs.

At the same time I am remembering all those that fought in World War 1 as 2014 marks the Centenary of this great conflict that still affects the lives of everyone in the UK.

The money raised for The ABF Soldiers Charity will help thousands of soliders, former soldiers and their families in so many ways and I am grateful for your support.
