Story

Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time to visiting my page to consider sponsoring me.

Trees and woodlands are fantastic; they are home to lots of different types of birds, plants and mammals that don't live elsewhere. Woodlands are important for us as a natural environment... somewhere to get away from concrete jungles (plus trees give us oxygen to breathe!).

That's why I'm raising money for the Woodland Trust by running in the Great North Run on 18th Sep 2011. I've never run a half marathon before, and it'll take months of training, so this is a real challenge for me! But I believe it's worth it if I can raise money to create new woodlands.

The Woodland Trust is the biggest woodland charity in the UK. Their work includes purchasing existing woodland, and protecting and maintaining it for us to visit. They also buy undeveloped land and plant trees, to create new woodland, to increase our woodland coverage. The UK has the smallest area of woodland compared to any other country in Europe. So the Woodland Trusts work is incredibly important for UK woodland.

Please visit the Woodland Trusts website for more information, and to find your nearest wood to visit: http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk

Your money would contribute to the Woodland Trusts "More Trees, More Good campaign" http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/en/more-trees-more-good/Pages/campaign.aspx:

• £10 could plant four trees

• £50 could enable a school to receive a tree pack

• £150 could help a community start a wood

Any amount you can give would be hugely appreciated and put to great use by the Trust.
