My story
Not my best ever race, but I finished! I ran a good first half, then my knee blew up and I hobbled the rest of the way. It was amazing how many supporters were still out there, cheering and handing out jelly babies.
Many thanks to all of you who supported me last year! You helped equip rooms for the first phase of accomodation at the new Emmaus Hastings & Rother community, but now we're ready to add a second phase.
Emmaus is a worldwide movement that aims to take people out of homelessness and give them a home and a job. Emmaus communities are self-supporting thanks to their recycling business selling donated furniture and household goods. Hastings & Rother, where I'm a trustee, is the 21st community to open in the UK, and already has nine residents, with work under way to add rooms for another six this spring.

Emmaus Communities provides a lasting solution to homelessness by offering formerly homeless people a home, work and the chance to regain self-respect in a supportive environment. Residents work full time on the Community business, renovating and re-selling donated furniture.
