Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Sarah Jones (aka Sarah Palin!), and I work as Senior Clinical Therapist at The B.I.R.D. Charity. On Sunday 25th September, I will be abseiling down the Trafford Centre bell tower with nine other volunteers in aid of B.I.R.D.
Several people have said to me, “you must be mad” or, “you’re doing what?!” when I have told them what I will be doing, and sometimes, I feel a little mad and would be inclined to agree! But then I remind myself why I have agreed to complete such a scary challenge and who I will be raising money for. Having worked for The B.I.R.D. Charity for, coming up, four years, I have been hugely privileged to have worked with hundreds of fantastic families and have witnessed for myself, the amazing improvements that can be made by so many who come to B.I.R.D. and who follow B.I.R.D.’s unique treatment programme. The Centre for Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Development works with children and adults of all ages to overcome neurological impairment caused by Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke and Acquired Brain Injury, to name only a few of the very many conditions B.I.R.D. works with. B.I.R.D. really is an incredible charity, offering hope and support to so many families across the UK. Many families come to B.I.R.D. not knowing where else to turn for help, often desperate for support they are not receiving elsewhere. I feel fortunate in my position at B.I.R.D. to be able to offer that support and in return, share with families the remarkable improvements their loved ones have made.
B.I.R.D. does not receive funding for its services and relies upon donations for its work to continue. Thankfully, I will not be alone in completing this scary challenge! Nine very kind and very brave volunteers will also be abseiling with me in aid of The B.I.R.D. Charity.
Please make our efforts worthwhile! If you would like to sponsor either myself or any of the other nine abseilers please do so by donating whatever you feel able to give to a hugely worthwhile cause. Thanks for taking time to read this and thanks in advance for your kind generosity J
