We are The Chequers Racers, a disparate group of occasional cyclists, formed about closing time on 14 Nov 2010 and based at the wonderful Chequers pub in Laddingford. As well as encouraging a bit of fitness and fun, we aim to set ourselves certain challenges for charity. Now read on............
On 19 May 2011, fourteen men on fourteen bikes, ably backed by three wonderfull support crew, cycled from the mini-village of Laddingford to the grand metropolis of Paris, arriving very tired but happy on 21 May under the Eiffel Tower!!
By doing this, we hope to raise an obscene amount of money for the Kent Cancer Trust.
Being slightly disillusioned with the way certain high profile charity events are set up, we decided to plan our own! We payed all of our own costs - accomodation, food, transport etc- so all the money we raise will go directly to the charity.
